A home for your community news bulletins, built for a small newsroom

WeVibeSitesUpdated
WeVibeSites.ca cover for the News and media starter: a broadcast signal beside the post title.

The power is out on half the island. The highway is closed by a slide. People in town want to know one thing. What is going on, and when will it be fixed?

If you run a small news outlet, you are the one they turn to. Maybe you post a short video update each evening. Maybe you host a weekly show. Maybe it is just you, a camera and a second reporter who also does the weather.

Your website should make that work easy to find. Today, it may be a feed that buries last week's bulletin under this week's ads.

Built around the bulletin

The News & Media starter is made for outlets that share news by video and voice. It is not a print paper. It is for the bulletin, the show and the quick update.

The heart of it is a bulletin player with an archive. Each new episode goes on top. Older ones stay easy to find. There is a page for each anchor and reporter, with the real names you give us. There are sections for the beats you cover, like local council, schools or the harbour.

It also has a breaking-news strip at the top of the page that you control. And it has a tip form, so a reader who sees a slide or a fire can send it in. Each tip goes to the inbox you name.

You can see one look it can have on our demo, NVC News. It is a made-up outlet we run as a demo. A few things on the demo, like the newsletter part, are shown there but are not included unless they are on your Launch list.

What we set up with you

The starter code is free. Anyone can clone it for $0. A Launch is when we set it up with you on a live call.

A Launch is $2,500 CAD, plus GST, paid once. That buys two hours with one of our people. If you want each of these, we set it up and test it with you:

  • Payments. Readers who want to chip in, or local shops that buy a spot on your show, pay into your own Stripe, PayPal or Square account. We never hold your money.
  • Booking. Guests or advertisers pick a time to meet or record. We connect your Google or Microsoft calendar and make one real test booking.
  • A portal. People sign in with a code we email them. They see their bookings, invoices and files.
  • One contact list. Every tip, booking and payment becomes a contact. We bring in the list you have.

The news moves, and so does your site

News will not wait for a web person. After Launch, you change your site by telling it what you want, in plain English, like a text message.

Type "put a red strip at the top that says the highway is closed until noon." When it opens, type "take the highway strip down." Want a new beat? Type "add a section for ferry news." That way of building is called vibe coding. On the call, you make one real change like this with us beside you.

We also show you the visual editor. Click on a headline, fix the typo, and you are done.

Owned by the newsroom

Your site runs in your own Replit account. We charge $0 a month. Your host bills about $20 US a month for use. That is the host's bill, in US dollars. Our prices are in Canadian dollars. If you want a domain through us, it is the registry price plus $8 a year. You own the code, and you can leave any time with a full copy.

We walk you through your own admin. Your name, logo and colours go up. It works on a phone, which is where your viewers watch. The site never makes up a story, a source or a bulletin.
